Thanksgiving Report – 2023

The Soup Kitchen Thanksgiving dinner was a stunning success this year due to the many efforts of the volunteer crew.  Over 1400 pounds of turkey were roasted on Monday  and then placed in the cooler for Thursday.  On Tuesday the mashed potatoes were whipped up. Wednesday, the food prep team put together the dressing, sweet potatoes, green beans and cranberries.

Early on Thursday, the turkeys were carved, the ovens fired up, the gravy made, and the tables were set. Serving began at 11:00 A.M. after a prayer and thanksgiving song led by Father Wimal.

We served about 645 meals in the dining room, and 873 carryout meals.

Over 150 volunteers assisted in the setup, serving, and cleanup.

As chairman of this event I would like to thank Fr Wimal, all the volunteers, the St Marys community, Pepsi Co., Kelly Box Co., Aunt Millies, and the many individuals who made donations which made this dinner possible.  Without such wonderful support we would not be able to put on this dinner.

Many thanks to all.

Sincerely,

            Patrick Mc Bride, chairman
