A complimentary, complete Thanksgiving dinner is served to any and all on Thanksgiving Day. This year due to the COVID-19 Pandemic only carryout will be offered. Carryouts are available 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. No beverages will be offered with this meal. The meal is being planned, prepared, and served by the Soup Kitchen Volunteers. Please consider a financial donation as the funds will be put to a much needed use. Thank you.
Thanksgiving Report – 2020
The Soup Kitchen Thanksgiving dinner was a stunning success this year due to the many efforts of the volunteer crew. Over 600 pounds of turkey were roasted on Monday and then placed in the cooler for Thursday. On Wednesday, the food prep team put together the dressing, green beans.
Early on Thursday, the turkeys were carved, the ovens fired up, the potatoes mashed, the gravy made, and the tables were set. Serving began at 11:00 A.M. after a prayer and blessing led by Bishop Kevin Rhoades and Fr Don Wimal Jayasuriya.
We served about 500 meals as carry outs.
About 50 volunteers assisted in the setup, serving, and cleanup.
As chairman of this event I would like to thank Fr Wimal, all the volunteers, the St Marys community, Pepsi Co., and the many individuals who made donations which made this dinner possible. Without such wonderful support we would not be able to put on this dinner.
